c2006. By Cheri J. Meiners, M.Ed. This is a valuable children’s book that inspires children to accept and appreciate each other just the way they are. Though autism is not mentioned specifically, this book can still be used to teach classmates and neighborhood children that it’s okay to be different and in fact it’s a good thing. This book will be especially helpful when a parent wants to let someone know that his or her child is a bit different but does not want to reveal a diagnosis. This book addresses many types of differences including: looking, feeling, thinking, believing, speaking, eating, and dressing differently. Like the main character says, “I can respect and learn from each person I meet. There’s something I can like about everyone.” Also included at the back of the book are discussion questions, games, and activity ideas parents and teachers can use to reinforce the ideas presented in this book. For readers 4-8. (Softcover, 40 pages)
