c2005. By Michelle Garcia Winner. Michelle Garcia Winner, a speech-language pathologist specializing in persons with social cognitive deficits, presents strategies for organizing schoolwork and homework for students who have difficulty completing academic tasks and daily life demands. Winner developed these strategies after working with intelligent, capable clients who were having problems coping with initiating, prioritizing, planning, and executing daily tasks and assignments throughout the school year. She provides examples of the many challenges facing students in schools today and shows how to help students understand and persist through the most difficult of tasks. This workbook includes information on the following topics: organizing the environment; estimating time; creating action plans; developing short-term and long-term assignment mapping; and following through. These methods will help educators understand the need to explicitly teach organizational skills, so that students can succeed and show their true potential. We are offering this workbook as a stand-alone resource. However, it does include worksheets and handouts referred to in Winners Strategies for Organization workshop on DVD. The DVD is available for sale as a special order item only (see the Videos & DVDs category). (Softcover; 32 pages.)
