c2000. Developed by Hilary Baldi and Deanne Detmers. This DVD was designed specifically to teach parents hands-on play techniques to help them engage a child newly diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Parents discuss how they have used play to successfully teach their children, and strategies are demonstrated for creating the structure necessary to help a child develop play skills. Particular emphasis is placed on "object-focused play," which helps children explore objects and relate to others by sharing experiences involving those objects. This DVD was produced by Behavioral Intervention Association (BIA), a nonprofit corporation that develops and implements intervention programs for young children under the umbrella of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). (Running time: 47 minutes.)
