The author focuses on the following safety skills, which kids can remember with the acronym SAFE: Stay away from danger; Ask for help; Follow directions and use things carefully; and Emergencies-have a plan. The book also contains a list of questions that parents and teachers can ask as they read the book aloud to a child, and it includes several sample safety games.
